Dr. Richard A. Leichter was born in the Bronx, New York. He relocated and was raised in North Bergen and later Woodbridge Township and attended J.F.K. High School in Iselin. He graduated from Montclair State College with a B.S. Premed degree and received his doctorate degree from New York College of Podiatric Medicine with honors.
Dr. Leichter performed his post graduate training in Podiatric Medicine and surgery at Cranston General /Roger Williams Hospitals in Rhode Island. He was chief resident his 2nd year.
He joined and cofounded the Riverview Foot and Ankle Associates practice in 1995, and was granted hospital privileges in both Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ and Centrastate in Freehold, NJ. He is immediate past president of the New Jersey Podiatric Medical Society and maintains an active role in NJ state podiatry affairs.
Dr. Leichter is Board-Certified in Foot Surgery and is a Diplomat of the Board of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery as well a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle surgeons.
In his spare time, Dr. Leichter is a part time stand-up and improv comedic actor and has performed on stage at Comix and Gotham Comedy night clubs in NYC.
